Vistors 01/30/2010

A few weeks ago we had Bill, Krista, and Molly for a visit. Molly just happens to be my favorite photo subject in addition to being my GD. We made a trip to the farmers market as well as campus point around sunset. I am including a shot of Bill and Krista mainly to document that "thing."

Molly had a nice time at the beach. With the 10 mm lens she really looks like a giant.

I really like this shot of Abby and Molly up close.

Jesusita Trail 02/13/2010

A couple weekends ago we took a hike with Dan to check out wild flowers on Jesusita Trail in Santa Barbara. The Abacus took most of the flower photos. I am including one of my favorites that she didn't post just so you see that we saw flowers.

I tried to frame a shot of cactus in a gate during a rest break on the hike.

The photographic highlight came when The Abacus spotted an alligator lizard in the trail. Dan has a nice 100mm macro lens. After he took a few shots he loaned it to me. I really like the eye.

Yellowood Bluffs

We took a walk on Saturday to check out the spring flowers. We are really lucky to be able to walk here from our house.

Big Surf

A couple weekends ago we took a walk from Goleta Beach out to Campus Point on UCSB campus to check out the surfers. There had been some storms to the surf was very big. Take a look.

Butterfly Walk

Saturday afternoon we decided to take a walk out to the Ellwood Butterfly Preserve to check out the Monarchs before they leave Goleta.

After leaving the butterfly area we decided to walk out to the beach. Along the way we ran into this Anna's Hummingbird who allowed me to take lots of shots of him and get very close.

Eventually we moved on. Later we came upon this American Kestrel hoovering along the shore bluffs. He had landed in this tree by the time we reached him. Notice the bright blue area on the tip of his wing near the tail feathers.

Photo Blog Manifesto

Upon reaching my free account limit on flickr I had a choice to make. Upgrade to a pro account, delete old photos from flickr, or find another place on the web to stuff some of my shots. I have chosen to stuff them here. My plan is to take a few of the best shots from each photo trip and provide a little background information about the subjects. Enjoy...
